Volvo hit by cyberattack; some R&D information stolen

STOCKHOLM — Volvo stated Friday it had launched an investigation into the theft of some R&D information which may influence the corporate’s operation.

“Investigations up to now verify {that a} restricted quantity of the corporate’s R&D property has been stolen throughout the intrusion,” the Swedish carmaker stated in an announcement.

It added that “there could also be an influence on the corporate’s operation”, however didn’t specify what that could be.

Volvo stated it didn’t see an influence on the safety of its clients’ vehicles or their private information.

“Volvo Vehicles is conducting its personal investigation and dealing with third-party specialist to research the property theft,” the corporate stated.

A spokesperson for the corporate declined to present any additional particulars.
