Commerce and business minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday mentioned that 4 main tyre firms represented by Automotive Tyre Producers Affiliation have collectively undertaken to contribute Rs 1,000 crore for rubber plantation improvement in 2 lakh hectare land within the seven states of North East India, over 5 years.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Rubber Board and ATMA on March 1. Taking part tyre firms collectively transferred Rs 12 crore to the account arrange by Rubber Board on Might 20 and funds supplied by the tyre firms are getting used for procuring planting supplies to begin planting.
