Italy gross sales drop 20% in January as EV demand stalls

MILAN — New-car gross sales in Italy fell 20 p.c in January to 107,814 as demand for full-electric autos dropped after authorities incentives ended, based on knowledge from the nation’s ministry of infrastructure and transport.

EVs noticed their share decline from 2021 peaks after “help-to-buy” incentives stopped in October and weren’t renewed. The share of full-electric automobiles was 3.4 p.c in January, up from 1.8 p.c in January 2021, however down from 7 p.c in December and 4.6 p.c for the complete 12 months.
